DESMODUR LD

DESMODUR LD is a low-functionality isocyanate based on hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI). It improves the storage stability of pigmented moisture-curing one-component coatings with good lightfastness and weather stability. DESMODUR LD reacts with water beginning at 50 °C, releasing carbon dioxide and acting as a dewatering agent. This ensures the storage stability of said coatings. Its reactivity with water is comparable to aliphatic DESMODUR E products, allowing for drying of pigments, extenders and solvents before addition of main binders. This prevents undesired reactions and viscosity increases. In ready formulations, DESMODUR LD content in total binder should not exceed 30%, calculated on solvent-free resin. It offers benefits such as extended shelf life and superior exterior durability for said industry applications.
